People climbing Dunn’s River Falls near Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The 600’ climb begins on the beach where the falls empties into the Caribbean. People form a human chain and hold hands for support as they make their way up the natural limestone steps of the falls.

It is a beautiful setting and was featured in the film Cocktail (with Tom Cruise) and Dr. No (with Sean Connery).

Mission accomplished. This is our group (Perry, Tory, Jacob, me) on the top of Devils Tower. We arrived at the summit about 2 PM. The top of Devils Tower is about 1300’ above the surrounding terrain.

The summit consists of a semi-flat grassy area where you can walk around, but it drops dramatically straight down at the edges (see photo above this one).

Devils Tower climb day! Here we are at the base of the tower waiting to begin the climb. Dawn is just breaking, and you can see the surrounding plains. The Belle Fourche River meanders below. This panorama is a composite of six different photos and covers about 140º. Click the photo to enlarge it.

Frank Sanders, one of our guides and the owner of Devils Tower Lodge is on the left. Next to him are Tory and Jacob two people in our climbing party.

Today was a practice day at Devils Tower to get ready for our climb to the top on Sunday. Tomorrow, it would take us six pitches to get to the summit, but today we would only go about a third of the way. Here I am climbing from the base of the tower up one of those initial pitches. Perry took the photo.

Here is a panorama from the summit of Bald Mountain looking northward. This view is about 110° wide and is comprised of six photos stitched together. Over on the far left toward the west, you can see the slopes of Breckenridge Ski Resort that is located on peaks of the Ten Mile Range.

In the distant center of the photo are the jagged summits of the Gore Range. Lake Dillion is also off in the distance toward the right side of the photo.

Beyond the lake on the far right, are the William Forks Mountains, which are part of the Front Range.
