We had a beloved English Setter by the name of Bailey who died last year at age 12. He brought a lot of joy into our lives. We had him cremated and I scattered his ashes in a meadow that borders some thick, dark woods on our property.

I hadn’t been back to the meadow in awhile, and when I walked there the other day, it was ablaze in a sea of wild yellow coneflowers. There have always been a few wildflowers in the meadow, but this year they were thick and everywhere.

Maybe it’s just a good year for prairie flowers, but something tells me it may be Bailey’s work.

Bear, a yellow lab that came to visit us with my daughter’s family, had a wonderful time at the lake. However, dogs know when it is time for the big car ride home, and there was no way he was going to be left behind for the return trip. This photo was taken by wife, Maureen.
