The sun has set and the summer crowds are long gone. Twilight and streetlamps illuminate the now-deserted public beach in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on this Thanksgiving week. Thanks to El NiƱo, the weather has been mild and the lake is still in its liquid state.

It was clear and calm tonight on Pelican Lake, and the stars began their show at twilight.

This was last evening on the Otter Tail River in Minnesota. Shortly after sundown, the full moon climbed into the twilight sky while a hunter returned home by boat in the fading light.

The dull gray ice that covered the lake two days ago is gone. In twilight’s calm, the lake transforms to heaven’s mirror.
